Web Site
To edit your Mac web site:
- Word works well.
- Use Word's "view" pull-down menu to select Web Layout (rather than Print Layout).
- The files which you create and edit should be in your Sites folder.
- You need one home page (or main page); normally it will be named index.htm or index.html.
- It can contain links to other pages. Use Word's Insert, then Hyperlink, but first click on the image or highlight the text that you want someone to click on.
- Pages' names should not contain spaces or special characters - just A-Z, a-z, and 0-9.
To view your web site, or anyone's web site:
- Mount the file server volume which contains the Sites:
- In Finder, click on Go.
- Then Connect to Server.
- Point to 65.217.16.2.
- Select 2009 - your graduating class' folder.
- Browse to file:///Volumes/2009/ilastname/Sites/index.html, where ilastname is normally your first initial and last name, all lower case, and no spaces.
